Challenge

TSA heavily relies on critical systems managed by the Human Capital (HC) Office, supported by the Flexible Agile Scalable Teams (FAST) program. These crucial systems operate on outdated legacy infrastructures, risking inefficiencies and higher costs.

The challenge lies in modernizing these systems, transitioning them to advanced cloud-based platforms while ensuring seamless integration and minimizing disruption to TSA’s mission-critical operations. Given the ever-evolving landscape of technology and cybersecurity threats, TSA seeks to swiftly upgrade its IT infrastructure to secure transportation

Solution

RP’s partnership with TSA involves spearheading the migration of critical systems to modern cloud environments. We provide comprehensive support in evaluating, selecting, and integrating Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions tailored to TSA’s specific needs. We engage with TSA stakeholders and technical experts to ensure successful operation of these systems. We offer expertise in mobile application development, custom software development, and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software implementation to meet TSA’s evolving requirements.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) relies on critical systems currently operating on aging, end-of-life hardware at the Mt. Weather data center. This outdated infrastructure poses a significant risk of catastrophic system failure.

While FEMA’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) considered a costly hardware upgrade, this solution was deemed inefficient and inconsistent with the strategic goal of migrating to the cloud. The challenge was to migrate these systems to the cloud to ensure better resilience, cost efficiency, and scalability, despite resource and expertise limitations within the existing team.

Solution

RP collaborates with FEMA to migrate critical systems from the aging hardware to the cloud. We conduct comprehensive onboarding and training, actively participate in key meetings, and closely collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams throughout the process. Utilizing CI/CD pipelines and IaaC practices, we automate processes and maintain consistency in deployment. Detailed documentation supports the migration efforts, while Scrum practices ensure effective project management. Moreover, we contribute valuable insights during backlog refinement sessions, further enhancing productivity and collaboration.
