Ashburn, VA | October 17, 2023
It is with great pleasure that RP Professional Services announces Irene Ying’s receipt of the 2023 NIH Director’s Award.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director’s Award recognizes exceptional performance or special efforts that significantly exceed regular duty requirements related to fulfilling NIH’s mission. This award is an outstanding achievement that highlights Ms. Ying’s extensive professional work and career-long accomplishments.
Irene Ying is receiving this award as a member of the Data Science Policy Council Subgroup and Implementation Team, nominated by the Office of the Director “For extraordinary dedication and teamwork in supporting NIH leadership and the research community in preparing and implementing the NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing.”
Over the past year, her work has contributed to NIH being recognized as the premier biomedical research agency in the world. It helps shape how research is conducted to improve health and prevent disease. Ms. Ying’s accomplishments include developing and coordinating content for a new NIH website and helping investigators, scientific staff, and research administrators understand NIH’s scientific sharing policies.
She also acted as Communications Coordinator for over two years at the University of Maryland College Park. She researched the malaria parasite as a Molecular Biology Graduate Student at Princeton University. Ms. Ying’s expertise extends across the country, as she wrote and edited scientific content to support NASA’s SMART cables project, a United Nations-led effort to integrate environmental sensors onto undersea cables for tsunami warning and climate monitoring, at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, Honolulu, HI.
Nate Kreoger, Vice President, says of Ying’s performance, “As a former fed, I could not be more proud of the impact our RP employees are making in supporting the critical mission of the federal government. We are all extremely proud of Irene’s accomplishments at NIH and consider ourselves fortunate to have someone with her background and expertise on the RP team. Congratulations, Irene!”
